Which Christmas Market to visit in Warsaw?
Once again this year, Warsaw’s Christmas markets will put the city in a festive mood, drawing crowds of locals and tourists alike. The winter ‘villages’ located in various parts of the capital, feature delightful atmospheric decorations and the aroma of mulled wine and freshly baked treats. On the stalls you can find handmade ornaments, local crafts, and traditional dishes that will give you a true taste of Christmas. Warsaw fairs are also places to meet and have fun together—from carol concerts and workshops for children, to ice rinks and illuminations. Whatever the location, every visitor can find a touch of magic and the unique atmosphere of looking forward to Christmas.
Markets up high and in the heart of the city
At Highline Warsaw, on top of the tallest building in the European Union, a special Christmas Market has been created, along with the Park of Lights. This is the first attraction of its kind in the capital—with a panoramic view of the city, twinkling decorations and the aroma of mulled wine in the air. Until the end of January 2026, the Highline Warsaw space will transform into a winter scene suspended between the city and the sky. The highest observation deck in the EU will feature decorated Christmas trees, sparkling baubles, figures from the Nutcracker, and picture-perfect atmospheric spots ideal for souvenir photographs with Warsaw in the background.
At the same time, the capital’s downtown district will host the first Warsaw Christmas Market—a Christmas village by the Palace of Culture and Science. On Defilad Square, adjacent to Central Square, more than 100 chalets have been erected along with a stage and numerous attractions including a 55-metre Ferris wheel—the highest in Poland—a Venetian carousel, and a ‘Christmas tree’ carousel. The outstanding location in the heart of the city with direct access to the metro, trams and buses, and the proximity of Central Station, make the event easily accessible both to locals and tourists. The market will be open until January 1, 2026.
Old Town market
Another festive attraction is the Christmas Market on Międzymurze Piotra Biegańskiego (the Piotr Bieganski Intermural Walkway), just off Castle Square. Until January 6, 2026, visitors can enjoy stalls brimming with handicrafts and traditional craftwork, as well as artistic creations, culinary delights and aromatic drinks, including the famous spicy mulled wine. The wide selection of goods means everyone will find unique, one-of-a-kind gifts here. Among the fragrant Christmas trees, the aroma of mulled wine and chocolate-coated gingerbread, numerous attractions and entertainments await along with a wealth of Christmas decorations, creating a pleasant, family atmosphere and transporting visitors to a magical, fairy-tale Christmas world. On the Old Town Square, by the Mermaid Statue, the iconic ice rink opens at the beginning of December, letting you glide amid the festive setting. Visitors can warm up with mulled wine, coffee or tea, and enjoy traditional Christmas dishes.
Smaller fairs and festive events are also held in Warsaw’s shopping centres and urban spaces, including the Blue City mall and Elektrownia Powiśle post-industrial complex. There you can find stalls offering local handicrafts, Christmas treats, and children’s workshops. Warsaw’s Christmas markets are the perfect opportunity to feel the magic of the coming festive season, buy unique gifts and spend time in the friendly, glittering atmosphere of the capital in winter.
