Swifties Guide to Warsaw

Welcome to Warsaw! In the capital of Poland, you will find the youngest UNESCO-listed Old Town, countless restaurants offering multinational cuisine, natural sandy beaches, and many other attractions. We are sure that the concerts at the PGE Narodowy Stadium will warm your heart, and that your stay in the Polish capital will be an unforgettable experience. Below you will find all the information you need to help you spend your free time in our city.

It just so happens that the first of Taylor Swift’s concerts will take place on the day we commemorate the anniversary of the most important event in the history of Warsaw. Eighty years ago, soldiers of the Polish underground army, mostly young and even teenage fighters, launched into an unequal battle against the German army that occupied Poland during World War II. The Warsaw Uprising lasted more than two months and went down in history as the largest act of armed resistance in Europe.

The residents of Warsaw, and the whole of Poland, pay tribute to the heroes of the Uprising on August 1 at 5 p.m. – public transport stops for a minute, sirens are heard all over the city, and Varsovians honour the memory of the fallen with a moment of silence. At major points in the city, including near the PGE Narodowy Stadium, thousands of people gather at this time holding flags and red flares. We kindly ask you to respect this moment, and if your heart tells you to, stop in a gesture of solidarity. On this and subsequent days, many other commemorations will take place at sites connected with the Uprising.

The easiest way to get to the PGE Narodowy Stadium is by metro line M2 to the Stadion Narodowy station (in the direction of Bródno). Trains of the Fast City Rail and Mazovian Railway also stop in the vicinity of the stadium, and trams and buses run across Poniatowski Bridge.

After the concert, Poniatowski Bridge and the stretch of Aleje Jerozolimskie from rondo Waszyngtona (Waszyngtona Roundabout) to rondo Charles’a de Gaulle’a (Ch. de Gaulle’a Roundabout) will be closed to traffic. In this situation, it is best to return to the centre by metro or on foot across the bridge.

In addition, on August 1, 2024, due to public gatherings and a traffic stoppage in the centre of Warsaw from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., we recommend getting to the PGE Narodowy Stadium by metro line M2.

Detailed information on changes in the organisation of traffic can be found at: infoulice.um.warszawa.pl and facebook.com/infoulice. Announcements regarding the routes of Warsaw Public Transport vehicles are available at: wtp.waw.pl. In addition, on the website of the Warsaw Municipal Contact Centre and in the 19115 app, you can sign up for free notifications of planned traffic disruptions and changes to public transport.
