What fun Carnival is, and of course it's just—"Warsaw full of singing and dancing"

The Warsaw of the 1920s and 1930s, known as the ‘Paris of the North’, was a centre of vibrant cultural and social life. In those days, Carnival became a real celebration of joy—elegant balls and parties lasted until dawn, filling the city with music and dance. A special renown was enjoyed by the Fashion Ball at Hotel Europejski, which attracted the cream of society and dictated trends as the quintessence of the day’s chic. The ladies dazzled in outfits inspired by the latest fashions, and the gentlemen delighted with their impeccable elegance.
“There is no house in which the walls and floors do not shake from ten in the evening to eight in the morning”—wrote Bolesław Prus about Warsaw in his Chronicles.

Carnival in Warsaw was more than just entertainment—people from different social classes met at the same table. Noblewomen danced with shoemakers and courtiers shook hands with servants. The masks concealed secrets and intrigues: husbands looked for signs of betrayal, mothers of poor maidens hoped for the right match, and the salons were full of gossip and fascination.

Although today Warsaw is slightly different from a century ago, it still nurtures the tradition of Carnival madness. The capital is a city full of energy and diversity. Clubs, discos, and bars create unique spaces where music, dance, and joy reign supreme throughout the night. During Carnival, Warsaw simply does not allow for boredom!
