Poster Museum in Wilanów

Can a poster be more than an announcement? Find out for yourself at the Poster Museum at Wilanów—a place that has been showing since 1968 how interesting graphics have co-created and commented on Polish reality over the years. More than 63,000 posters are on show, including the world’s largest collection of Polish works.

At the exhibition ‘Polish Posters: The Collection’ you can view 240 selected pieces. What do they depict? Everyday street life, political events, culture and entertainment. The exhibition will guide you through successive eras—from the 19th century, when Poland was not on the map, through the interwar period and World War II, to the post-war years and the present day. You will see how posters have commented on reality as well as serving both propaganda and social initiatives in addition to their use in the worlds of film, theatre, fashion and advertising. Many of them also contain universal reflections that remain valid to this day. You will also learn about the phenomenon of the Polish School of Posters—characterised by metaphor, emotion and minimalist form. What else makes this place stand out? Regular renewal.
