Not only on foot

Does touring a city on foot seem a bit boring to you? You can discover Warsaw in many different ways. A ride in a stylish horse-drawn carriage or in a vehicle from communist times, a trip on a double-decker bus, a guided group bicycle tour or an excursion on a city bike. Individually or in a group – you’ll definitely find something that suits you. Should you decide that you actually feel best on your own two feet, you can always take a free guided walking tour.

Take a tour of Warsaw in vintage public transport vehicles that used to operate in Warsaw several decades ago. Both trams marked with the letter T and the number 36 and number 100 buses stop at the usual stops. All you need to do is buy a normal ticket and punch it in the traditional ticket validation machine.

Take a ride through the Old Town in a stylish horse-drawn carriage and feel the atmosphere of 19th century Warsaw. The tour includes the sight of old town houses and the clatter of horseshoes on the cobblestones. Up to five people can fit in the carriage, and children will especially enjoy travelling in the “oat-powered taxi”. Carriage drivers wait for visitors on Castle Square.

Take a trip back in time in vehicles from the communist era. You can choose from Jelcz buses, known as cucumbers because of their shape, the Nysa 522 minibus and the vintage Fiat 125p. You can also take the wheel of the famous “Maluch”. Your guide will keep you company just in case.

The hop-on hop-off double-decker buses travel around Warsaw along the route of the most important attractions. Hop on or off at any of the stops and explore the sights nearby. Audio guides in more than a dozen languages are available on board.

Set off on a cycling tour of the city with a guide who will lead you around Warsaw’s attractions, tell you about them and entertain you with anecdotes. You’ll get a bicycle for the duration of the tour from the organiser.

If you like exploring on your own, use one of the city’s Veturilo bikes. You can rent one at one of several hundred stations located all around the city at street junctions and underground stations. Thanks to the signposts, you will easily reach the attractions you are interested in, while keeping fit at the same time.

You can learn about the most interesting places in the capital during walks with a licensed guide. Particularly popular are the free tours starting from the Zygmunt’s Column with guides carrying their distinctive orange or yellow umbrellas.

Take a cruise on the Vistula to see Warsaw from a different perspective. There are plenty of opportunities to do this during the summer season. From traditional flat-bottomed boats, motorboats and kayaks, to a vintage ship with room for dozens of people on board, and comfortable catamarans and gondolas. The vessels are moored in many places, mainly on the left bank of the Vistula. In most cases you can book and pay for your trip online.
